This day trip is designed for those who wish to enjoy an overview of the Amalfi coast and visit the picturesque villages of Positano and Ravello.
Positano
is the most charming and best known "fishermen's village" of the Amalfi Coast. A cliff divides the town in two, with the west side housing the beach area and the east side the town center. Sailing and beach-going are the main pastimes here. The drive continues down to Ravello, where we will stop for lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the coast. The town is located at the top of the Dragone Valley, and truly seems as though it is a town and a garden at the same time.
Ravello
was founded by the Roman aristocracy, and it became a very wealthy and powerful town between the 10th and the 13th century. Ravello, like Amalfi, owed its prosperity to extensive commerce throughout the Mediterranean and to its strong textile industry. Written about as early as the 14th Centiury in Bocaccio’s Decameron, Ravello possesses two famous architectural pearls known worldwide: the Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. These buildings perfectly represent the blend of Moorish and Venetian architectural style which is typical throughout the major centers found along the Amalfi Coast.
