Tour of Venice

Admire the play of light on the water as we glide along the Grand Canal of Venice and see the stunning palaces and churches. Discover the most romantic and intimate minor canals to savor the true essence of Venice while enjoying a few glasses of the sparkling and refreshing Prosecco wine.

Your tour begins in San Marco, arguably the most famous square in the World, and according to Napoleon, “the most elegant drawing room of Europe”. Visit San Marco’s Church, a stunning mix of architectural styles and periods that inexplicably “works” aesthetically and is unlike any other church in the world. See the Quadragia (four bronze horses taken from Constantinople) on the 2nd floor balcony, and enjoy the views of the square and canal from this special vista. View the incredible mosaics spanning 400 years inside and outside the Church.

We continue on to the Doge’s Palace, which frames the Square adjacent to San Marco. This palace is a delight of Venetian architecture inside and out, and you will see the power of Venetian trade and its navy throughout the art in the numerous palace rooms. See Tintoretto’s Paradiso, the largest oil painting in the world, and the rooms decorated to demonstrate Venice’s place as the center of wealth, power and trade that centuries of Doges (Dukes) established on this island. You will pass through the Bridge of Sighs and see the prisons that only few (including the notorious Casanova) escaped from!

We will take time for lunch at one of Venice’s numerous and wonderful restaurants (seafood is naturally a specialty here) and enjoy a glass of Prosecco wine before we resume our tour in the afternoon.

The afternoon can be spent either visiting the Accademia Museum, which contains numerous masterpieces by Caravaggio, Bellini and Titian, or visiting Santa Maria Gloriosa de la Frari Church for a view of Titian’s masterpiece, the Assumption of the Virgin, as well as to see the naves in the church where Titian and Canova are buried. Your tour will conclude at either of these sites.

Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes as Venice requires significant walking over uneven pavements and bridges. Also, you must be dressed respectfully (no bare shoulders or knees) to enter our Churches.

We can make an advanced reservation for the Doge’s Palace. If needed please ask us and we will provide this at no extra cost above the Museum entrance fees.
