Gourmet Tour: Modena and Parma
For an epicurean, there’s no experience comparable as to learn about and enjoy from the source some of the most sought after and classic products: Prosciutto di Parma Ham, Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese and Modena Balsamic Vinegar.
On this tour, you will be greeted by your English speaking driver in Florence and head through the Tuscany Countryside on your way to the heart of Northern Italian Food, Emilia Romagna. First, Modena, where you will visit a private estate where the true Balsamic is made. In their cellar, you will learn about its tradition, how it’s made and the how to enjoy it in with different dishes including sweets. You will obtain a whole new understanding of Balsamic.
Following, a visit to a private factory’s production area of Prosciutto di Parma. Here, and only here, can genuine Parma Ham be produced that follows the traditional and genuine method for centuries. You will go on a tour of the making of the ham, learn the four ingredients that are necessary to produce it and visit the magical aging cellar. Then of course it is time to taste it as well.
On your last stop you will visit a famous cheese factory of Parmigiano Reggiano. This cheese is protected by the European Union and can only be produced in a restricted area, including the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, and Modena. You will get a tour and observe how this special cheese is made step by step. You will learn more about the history behind it and the aging process and of course to taste it as well before heading back to your hotel in Florence.
Lunch, gratuities, and any entrance fees to the venues are not included. Also please note that we may change the order of the itinerary at our discretion.
Please note that you will be part of a group tour entering the Prosciutto factory as the aging cellar needs to be switched off before allowing anyone to enter and that can only be done limited times in a day.
