Medieval Tuscany: Arezzo and Cortona
In the company of your English Speaking Driver, you will make your way through the Tuscan countryside to the town of Arezzo, which was one of the strongest and richest of the Etruscan towns. You will explore its numerous small roads and alleys that lead to the Piazza Grande, the main square, colorfully decorated with many coat of arms in the surrounding buildings. You will visit the cathedral, which dominates dignified on the Hilltop. It’s large Gothic construction which hides sophisticated details inside, such as the baptismal font relief designed by Donatello and Piero della Francesca’s Mary Magdalene. Numerous and important archaeological finds in the area show the splendor of the Etruscan art.
After spending the morning there, your driver will take you to another smaller town, Cortona, which is one of the oldest towns in Tuscany. Cortona is one of the most fascinating and characteristic of Italian towns which retains a decidedly medieval atmosphere, with its antique walls and buildings. Here you will spend duration of the afternoon visiting the main church, the main squares and will experience the warmth of Tuscany before heading back to Florence.
