In the footsteps of the Apostle, Peter, this private tour includes the visit to all the main churches in Rome, that have made the city what it is today.

St John Lateran and its magnificent Baptistery ending with the impressive Holy Stairs one of the Roman Catholic Church’s holiest relics, which contains the steps believed to have been climbed by Jesus Christ on his way to trial before Pontius Pilate.

Santa Maria Maggiore has beautiful 5th century Biblical mosaics. The marble floor, bell tower and mosaics. Its spectacular ceiling is said to be decorated with gold Columbus brought back from the new world.

Pantheon, built in the year 117 as the Roman temple of all gods, is the best preserved ancient building in Rome, which in the seventh century turned into a church.

San Clemente, one of the favorite because of its three layers of archaeological excavations underneath, illustrating the interesting history of the city.

– Catacombs, outside the walls of Rome was used as a burial place for early Christians as well as pagans. Miles of tunnels were carved out as burial chambers. The Roman catacombs contain thousands of burial niches as well as some good examples of early Christian art.

San Pietro in Vincoli was founded in the fifth century to hold the chains that are believed to be those that held St. Peter captive in Mamertine Prison. According to legend, one set of chains was sent to Constantinople and when it was returned to Rome, the two parts miraculously fused together. The church is also home of the famous statue of Moses by Michelangelo, the center of the work known as the tomb of Julius II.

Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme is one of Rome’s popular pilgrimage churches, a beautiful Baroque church known for its collection of relics. There’s also a replica of the Shroud of Turin, the shrine of a young girl being considered for sainthood, and 15th century frescoes in the apse.

The Vatican, in the afternoon, you will of course also visit the Vatican, the heart of the Catholic church. The smallest state in the world, to explore the richest storehouse of art in the world: the Vatican Museum with the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon you will be driven back to your hotel.

St. Peter Basilica now requires all visitors to pay 1.5 Euro cash for Earphones.
