Caserta and Pompeii

Caserta and Pompeii

Caserta, is famous for its enchanting Royal Palace (A UNESCO World Heritage site); http://www.reggiadicaserta.beniculturali.it/

The monumental complex at Caserta, created by the Bourbon King Charles III in the mid-18th century to rival Versailles and the Royal Palace in Madrid, is exceptional for the harmony and balance of the magnificent palace, its gardens, natural woodland, hunting lodges and a silk factory. It is an eloquent expression of the Enlightenment in material form, integrated into, rather than imposed on, its natural setting.

Opening Dates and Times : All year Daily (except 1st January, 1st May and 25th December) 9am to dusk.

The ancient town of Pompeii was covered by ashes of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.C. and has been captivating archaeologists and tourists from all over the world, since the excavations began.

You’ll see Mt. Vesuvius from a distance, walk through the extensive ruins of Pompeii, and gain knowledge and understanding of everyday life in the ancient times.

You may rent audio guides or ask us to hire a specialized Licensed Tour Guide if you would like an escorted tour of the site (recommended) with a detailed narrative (Pompeii is partly wheelchair accessible).

We choose restaurants based on their quality as well as scenic location, however if there is a particular place you have heard of and would like to visit, let us know and we will try to include it. Because we use high quality professional English speaking drivers, be sure to book our services well in advance.

This tour requires significant walking over uneven pavement. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

In case you have already visited Pompeii, you can substitute it with Herculaneum. The site is less famous and smaller, but still harbors a wealth of archeological findings, which include stylish mosaics, ancient advertisement and well preserved house complexes.

* We do highly recommend a private licensed guide for Pompeii.
** Pompeii is partly wheelchair accessible.
*** You can get the tickets to sites on the spot – Euros 18 per person for Pompei and Euros 13 for Herculaneum.
