his day is to see the most beautiful sites of Sicily Agrigento and Akragas.

Located on a plateau overlooking Sicily’s southern coast, Agrigento was founded 582 BC by a group of colonists from immediate descendants of Greeks, and manage to survival throughout the times keeping its charm. Today the historical center of the city, the Romanesque Gothic cathedral, built during the fourteenth century still displays some of its medieval character, as does the thirteenth-century Church of San Nicola. You have the morning here to explore this ancient town, it’s Greek temples, theaters and ruins-.

The ancient town was destroyed several times during the siege by Roman forces in 261 BC, but always rebuilt. The Greek poet Pindar described Akragas as “the most beautiful city of the mortals.”. In the Valley of the Temples are the ruins of numerous temples but also necropolis, houses, roads. Unfortunately, most of the temples are in ruins, with pieces strewn about, and several appear to have never even been completed. You have the day to explore and loose yourself in time visiting the temples and get a better understanding of the past and life in the ancient world. You have also time to see the Normans sites and the beautiful churches that were constructed in and around the city.

The English speaking driver will pick you up from the port and take you back as well in the afternoon.
